About Ummah Islamic Foundation

We are building a house of Allah for the Ummah

An initiative of VR4Ummah Foundation to establish a vibrant, welcoming Islamic center in Hickory Hills, Illinois.

Our vision

A home for the whole community

We are establishing Ummah Islamic Foundation as a vibrant, welcoming, and spiritually enriching Islamic center rooted in the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

We are building a community where faith is not limited to rituals, but becomes a living force that inspires knowledge, character, compassion, responsibility, and service, for today and for generations yet to come.

What we are working for

  • Children grow up loving Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).

The Qur'anic foundation of our vision

A place where Allah is remembered

فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ

"In houses which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein."

Surah An-Nur 24:36

وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا

"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided."

Surah Aal-Imran 3:103

Our strength lies not in our differences, but in our shared faith, mutual respect, and commitment to the pleasure of Allah.

Why now

A suitable property became available, and our offer was accepted

Hickory Hills and the surrounding southwest suburban communities are home to Muslim families of diverse ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. As families establish roots and new generations grow, they need accessible prayer facilities, Islamic education, youth programs, and community services.

Through Allah's mercy, a property suitable for our vision has become available, and VR4Ummah Foundation's purchase contract has been accepted. Completing the acquisition and preparing the property for community use requires significant financial support, careful planning, and the collective efforts of believers.

An opportunity has opened. Now we must come together to turn this opportunity into an enduring institution. The acquisition remains subject to completion of the closing process and applicable requirements.
Planned services & programs

A masjid for every generation

The following are planned services, presented as aspirations rather than services already operating. They will be introduced progressively as facilities, resources, staffing, and approvals permit, insha'Allah.

  • Daily congregational prayers

Fajr through Isha in a welcoming environment. "Prayer in congregation is twenty-seven times superior to prayer offered alone." (Bukhari 645; Muslim 650)

  • Jumu'ah, Ramadan, Taraweeh & Eid

Jumu'ah khutbahs connecting Qur'anic guidance to contemporary life, Taraweeh and community iftars in Ramadan, and Eid activities where arrangements permit.

  • Qur'an & evening Islamic classes

After-school and weekend Qur'an reading, Tajweed, memorization, Islamic beliefs, Seerah, manners, and Arabic. "The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." (Bukhari 5027)

  • Youth development & leadership

Mentorship, leadership development, identity workshops, career guidance, volunteering, and recreation — a spiritual home where young people truly belong.

  • Family development & counseling

Islamic marriage education, parenting workshops, and family enrichment, with referrals to qualified, appropriately licensed providers where professional expertise is required.

  • Women's education & engagement

Appropriate opportunities for sisters' congregational participation, Qur'anic education, Islamic studies, personal development, and volunteer leadership.

  • New Muslim support

A welcoming place for every journey of faith — introductory classes, mentorship, and practical guidance on prayer and worship.

  • Senior engagement & care

Gatherings, spiritual learning, companionship, and intergenerational mentorship — honoring those who came before us.

  • Community service & outreach

Food assistance, support for families in hardship, and charitable drives. "And cooperate in righteousness and piety." (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)

  • Civic engagement & interfaith

Educational, nonpartisan civic participation, neighborhood partnerships, and respectful interfaith dialogue consistent with nonprofit requirements.

Children. Youth. Parents. Elders. One Ummah.

Imagine the masjid we will build together
